HTC_Marvel_SelfieCaptain America: The Winter Soldier made its debut in the cinemas a couple of months ago, but it looks like HTC is trying to milk the popularity of the movie by announcing a S.H.I.E.L.D. edition HTC One M8 handset. The limited edition handset will be pretty much the same as the regular gunmetal grey version of the phone, with the main difference being that it will have a S.H.I.E.L.D. logo inscribed on the back of the device.

Now for those interested in getting their hands on the device, the bad news is that you can’t buy it. Instead it can only be won via a contest that HTC will be holding. Basically all you’d have to do to take a Captain America-inspired selfie, upload it on Twitter with the #superselfie hashtag and you could be in the running to win the device. Alternatively HTC has also invited users to post their photos on their Facebook page.

The competition has already begun and it will end on the 15th of May at 11:59PM ET, so any submissions after that date and time will no longer be valid. If you’d like to check out the terms and conditions and the rules of the competition, you can head on over to HTC’s website for the details. This is not the first time we’ve seen a smartphone manufacturer create devices in conjunction with the movies.

In the past we have seen Nokia create Batman-themed handsets so this hardly comes as a surprise. In any case even if you do not win the handset, we can expect a few enterprising winners to offer up the device on channels like eBay or Craigslist, so you can keep your eyes peeled if you’d like a S.H.I.E.L.D. themed HTC One M8.
