Microsoft has put together a new update for Xbox One owners which has been released today. The Xbox One August update includes improved social features that aim to improve sharing experiences between gamers easier and better. Many of these features have been developed after feedback from the community through the Xbox Feedback portal.

One feature that Xbox One owners will surely appreciate is the ability to purchase games remotely. Through Xbox.com or the SmartGlass app those who own the console can remotely purchase games and add-on content. They won’t have to wait to get home before they can start downloading the content, if the Xbox One is set to automatically take updates, the purchased content will be downloaded on its own.

The update also adds new ways to interact with friends in the activity feed. It changes the user interface to a single column scrolling list which is longer and therefore includes more content. Xbox One owners will be able to like and comment on feed items as well as post text to their feed.

Another requested feature was a low battery notification for the controller, Microsoft has followed through on that. Users will also be able to turn off notifications during video and will also be able to playback 3D Blu-rays.

Microsoft promises that it will be bringing more features to the Xbox One in the coming weeks. An update is already being tested which includes some new features that were recently announced, that particular update is expected to be rolled out next month.
