If you’re the type that sits down all day at work, or most of the time, or play a lot of video games while sitting at the couch, let’s face it, your habits are not doing your health or back any favors. While getting up and around to exercise and improving your core muscles is one way to balance it out, not everyone has so much time or discipline to do that.

Well that’s what technology is for, right? To make our lives better? Well if you’re looking for a way to correct your posture, you might be interested in a Kickstarter campaign for the Darma smart cushion. The cushion is packed with sensors and algorithms that will be able to detect your sitting habits, monitor your posture, and provide you with tips on how to sit better.

The Kickstarter has since blown through their goal of $40,000 and at this time of writing is sitting at a funding of over $130,000. According to Darma’s description, “It learns your sitting habits to present you with actionable coaching, from stand-up reminders, to posture advice, to tailored stretching guidance.”

Now apart from detecting your posture, the Darma cushion will also be able to detect your other vitals, such as your heart rate, heartbeat waveform, respiratory rate, and breathing waveform, all of which will be relayed to you, the user, via an accompanying smartphone app. If this sounds like something you could be interested in, head on over to its Kickstarter page to pledge your support.
