The market seems to be warming up to smartwatches. More and more companies are now trying their hand at developing these wearable devices, with Apple being the latest contender. Unlike its rivals the Apple Watch is widely being considered as a fashion accessory. It has already landed on the cover of Vogue China and has made an appearance at the Paris Fashion Week. So what about the companies that are already big names in the fashion world? Well they’re waking up and smelling the coffee too.

Luxury goods giant LVMH, a conglomerate that counts fashion icons like Louis Vuitton and Fendi among the brands that it owns, is also looking to get into the smartwatch business.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal head of the conglomerate’s watch division, Jean-Claude Biver, revealed that LVMH is currently in talks with some tech companies with which it can hopefully partner up and churn out a wearable device. “Maybe in nine months, we will have a smartwatch,” Biver says.

During the interview Biver did not reveal exactly which companies LVMH is in talks with so that remains a mystery for now. Biver also decided not to mention under which brand this smartwatch would be released. LVMH owns several watch brands as well, including but not limited to TAG Heuer and Hublot.
