Video game consoles come in a variety of shapes and sizes. However as far as portable consoles are concerned, we have devices like the Nintendo 3DS and the PS Vita, both of which are relatively slim and could easily fit into a pocket or a bag, but wouldn’t it be cool if you had a handheld console that could fit into your wallet?

Well if you think that would be a pretty novel idea, then the TinyScreen Kickstarter project could be worth taking a look at. The project is part of the TinyCircuits group which has been going about creating tiny electronics. TinyScreen can actually be used in a variety of different applications apart from just playing games.

For example its creators have suggested that it could be used to create your own smartwatch in which you could 3D print your own housing for the watch as per your design. It can be used to display notifications like incoming calls, and can also be used to watch videos. There are different kits that its creators are selling via its Kickstarter page.

There will be a basic kit that comes with the bare minimum components like the TinyScreen itself, a TinyDuino processor, a USB TinyShield, and a li-ion polymer battery. Then we also have the Video Player Kit that adds a microSD TinyShield, a Video Game kit that adds that JoyStick TinyShield, a SmartWatch Kit that comes with a Bluetooth LE TinyShield (you’ll still have to 3D print your own band), and the Deluxe Kit which is pretty much all of the above.

Now is this the ideal platform to play video games on? Hardly. It doesn’t exactly have a very big display either as far as smartwatches are concerned, but if you love the idea of putting together your own components and you can see a use for such a device, head on over to its Kickstarter page to pledge your support.
