maid-ovenWhen it boils down to smart appliances around the home, there are many different kinds of models to choose from, although these days it would seem as though the robotic vacuum cleaner, or perhaps a NEST thermostat, are the ones with the most “brains” in their circuitry. I would like to think that the normal oven can be improved, and this is where the MAID oven (Make All Incredible Dishes) comes into the scene, sporting its ability to learn of your tastes as well as habits so that your time in the kitchen will be a whole lot more enjoyable.

MAID happens to be a successful Kickstarter project, where it boasts of a slew of smart home features. However, despite managing to raise the intended sum and then some, it remains as a prototype, so what has been promised on paper (or rather, on the screen) might end up to be rather different at the end of it all.

MAID will feature a list of recipes, and you can also opt to upload your very own recipes so that other folks can try out yours. Apart from that, it imparts verbal instructions during the cooking process, and if you would like to bake, the settings in MAID will be set automatically, depending on the kind of cake or dish you’re whipping up. The developers are so sure of themselves, they claim that MAID “knows every recipe and cooks every dish”. Apart from that, voice control and gesture-reading features have also been thrown into the mix – handy when your hands are covered with various ingredients.

It will still take some time before MAID becomes reality, as it has a target release date of Thanksgiving next year.
