For those who are unfamiliar with the malware, basically it had the ability to infect iOS devices via USB cables, supposedly with the malware lurking in the cable itself, meaning that if your computer was infected and you plug in your iPhone, you could land yourself in a spot of trouble.

Apple has been quick to block the malware and now according to reports, it seems that China’s Beijing Bureau of Public Security has recently announced that they have arrested three suspects who have been charged with the spreading of the Wirelurker malware through third-party app stores.

The police go on to state that the malware has since been shut down. In any case Apple has since reassured customers and their users that there have been no reports of any devices affected by the Masque Attack, so users can rest easy.

One of the ways that users can also keep themselves safe from future malware attacks is by downloading their apps from trusted sources, such as the iTunes App Store for iOS, Google Play for Android, or the Windows Phone Store for Windows Phone users. If there is one thing most of these malwares have in common is that they tend to be found in third-party app stores where scrutiny might be minimal.
