Rockstar had released an update for GTA Online in time for Christmas. The GTA Online Festive Surprise update brought several holiday-themed changes to the online mode of Grand Theft Auto 5, including free inventory gifts for players, but unfortunately many gamers had trouble accessing the game over Christmas due to the DDoS attack on PSN and Xbox Live.

Acknowledging the issues that had kept gamers out of PlayStation Network and Xbox Live over Christmas, these issues actually kept the services down for a couple of days, Rockstar decided to extend its Christmas gift giving so that the gamers could have a fair chance of accessing everything it has to offer.

Initially the gift giving was only supposed to happen on Christmas day, providing players with items like new clothing and weapons. The update also brought snowball fights, new settings, gameplay tweaks and new cars to GTA Online.

In case you missed out on both occasions, worry not, Rockstar has your back. It has announced that the GTA Online Festive Surprise inventory gifts will be available once again on New Year’s Eve and throughout New Year’s Day. This should provide everyone with ample time to get these free gifts in the game.

It is highly unlikely that there will be another extension after this so it would be best to get the goodies now if you haven’t already.
