xbox one

It appears that the official Xbox One SDK from Microsoft has been leaked online, at least that’s what a group going by H4LT is claiming, the SDK is used by approved developers to create applications and games for Microsoft’s gaming console. H4LT announced that it had leaked the Xbox One SDK through its Twitter account, it even went so far as to tweet pictures of the SDK files to the official Xbox account.

Even though the SDK is out this doesn’t mean anyone can launch games and apps for the Xbox One. Developers who want to release their work must first register with Microsoft and be approved before their apps and games can be made available on the Xbox One.

What this does mean is that folks who don’t have access to the Xbox One Devkit or the Xbox ID program, they will be able to develop modifications and homebrew apps for the console.

Developers can do that in theory but in reality they will require an exploit that gives them full control over the console. The group that has leaked this SDK says that at this point in time there is no “definite exploit,” but hopes that people are going to tinker around with the files and figure something out.

The reason for this Xbox One SDK leak? H4LT says its to foster “creativity and research.”
