The AllCast app from popular Android developer Koushik Dutta has been around for a while now on Google’s mobile operating system. It opened up functionality on the Chromecast that the streaming dongle didn’t initially support. Now the Allcast iOS app has finally been released. It will allow users to stream content from their iOS device to a variety of gadgets hooked up to a TV.

iOS users require an Apple TV if they want to beam content from their device on to a television. The set-top box works exclusively with the company’s mobile devices but AllCast is a great alternative to people who do have an iOS device but not an Apple TV, instead something like the Amazon Fire TV, Xbox One or Roku.

It is impossible to stream content directly to those devices using an iOS smartphone or tablet by default but AllCast removes that restriction. It is compatible with a variety of devices and will allow users to stream content like music, movies and photos from the iOS device.

AllCast iOS app is live and can be downloaded for free from the App Store. However the free version comes with advertisements and streaming limits, so if you want none of that, best be prepared to shell out a couple of bucks for the premium version.
