mynewpalm-logo-touchpadRemember the Palm brand that was bought by HP a while back? We’re sure many had thought that the brand would be been killed off for good, or at least fade quietly into the pages of tech history, but a rumor from last week had suggested that the brand could be brought back by Alcatel OneTouch.

Well it looks like the rumors were semi-true as TCL has recently confirmed that they have managed to purchase the Palm name from HP. For those unfamiliar, TCL makes phones (amongst other things) that have the TCL brand and the Alcatel OneTouch brand on them, so we guess the rumors were almost spot on.

While we are unclear as to what TCL has planned for the Palm brand, they have stated that they plan on delivering “absolute breakthrough innovations in Technology, Design, User Experience, Eco-system, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Business Models,” whatever that means. However it should be noted that since LG now owns the webOS platform, chances are future Palm mobile products will most likely run on Android, or perhaps TCL might be interested in licensing webOS from LG instead.

In any case what do you guys think? Are you interested in seeing what kind of Palm-branded products could grace our shelves in the near future?
