We recently reported that Snapchat is going to launch a new feature soon that’s going to offer more content to users. Today it made the formal announcement. Snapchat Discover has been launched today and it brings a new way to explore Stories from various editorial teams. For this purpose the company has teamed up with some of the world leaders in media to put together a storytelling format that “puts the narrative first.”

Simply put Discover is a feed of content that is refreshed daily. It includes content from the likes of CNN, ESPN, National Geographic, Yahoo News, Comedy Central, Cosmopolitan, Food Network and more.

Its also a novel way for Snapchat to monetize its service. Content offered in Discover is accompanied by brand advertisements, opening up a major source of revenue for this company, which has been working hard to make money by leveraging on its young but substantial user base.

Snapchat says that it has built Discover to “serve the art,” so each edition of its daily feed comes with full screen videos and photos, long form layouts as well as something the company calls “gorgeous advertising.”

The app updates are rolling out today so soon users around the world will be able to experience Snapchat’s latest feature.
