g watch rA couple of days ago, LG unveiled their latest smartwatch in the form of the LG Watch Urbane which is a more classy and upscale take on smartwatches and the company’s LG G Watch R. Presumably more information regarding its pricing and availability will be revealed during MWC 2015 or at a later date, but in the meantime one user decided that they just could not wait.

According to a post by Anthony B on the Android Wear Community Google+ page, he decided to take matters into his own hands by sanding down the face of his LG G Watch R, essentially scratching off the black paint that coats the watch. The end result? As you can see in the image above, upon first glance it looks like it could indeed pass off as the LG Watch Urbane.

The black bezel remains but Anthony B decided to keep it on as it was too close to the display to risk sanding it down, not to mention the color contrast doesn’t look too bad either. Now we don’t recommend everyone with LG G Watch R’s to go out and buy sandpaper and start sanding off the black coating, but for those who don’t mind taking the risk of damaging/scratching their device, we guess this is a project you could embark on.

One of the Android Wear Community members has also suggested that Anthony B could finish up with a 3000 grit sandpaper and a metal polish cream to help give it a more polished and cleaner look, especially if there are some light scratches and remaining residue.
