quality filterSocial networks like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or even forums and websites all have trolls on them in some way or the other. Keeping them away can be pretty difficult since it would be easy to just create a new account. However it looks like if you’re a verified user on Twitter, the social network is trying to do something about it.

According to a tweet by Anil Dash, he was prompted by this settings menu when he launched his Twitter app. As you can see, it’s basically a filter that users can enable to help filter out tweets that might be spammy, offensive, or basically troll-ish in nature. This feature is called the Quality filter and at this time of writing, it looks like it is only available to verified users.

We’re not sure why Twitter isn’t rolling this feature out to everyone just yet, but maybe they’re hoping to get some feedback on the feature first before making it available to everyone. Twitter has been known to play host to a variety of trolls on the internet and the company has repeated on multiple occasions on their stance to prevent harassment to their users.

Just last month the company’s CEO vowed to take a more aggressive stance against internet trolls and we have to wonder if this Quality filter is one of the company’s methods of doing so.
