You would think that companies would be happy to have legions of fans create fan-made YouTube videos of their products and services, but apparently that isn’t true especially in the case of Nintendo who has made it a habit to quash as many fan-made videos and projects as possible over the years.

Their latest “casualty” comes in the form of YouTuber “Angry Joe” Vargas who has recently proclaimed that he will no longer be making Nintendo videos. This followed a notice Vargas received on his Mario Party 10 video where he would not be able to collect ad revenue as it contained copyright material from Nintendo. Instead of rolling with it, Vargas decided he had enough and took it down entirely.

According to Vargas, “It’s not enough that I bought a WiiU, 4 pro controllers, 4 Wiimotes, 4+ games (~$900). They need to monetize when I share my play sessions.” While Nintendo has tried to make peace with YouTubers through their Creators Program, there are many critics of the program as YouTubers are basically only allowed to make videos about games that have been whitelisted, not to mention they would have to share their revenue with the company which other developers have not insisted upon.

Considering that Vargas has about 2 million subscribers to his name and with more than 300 million views throughout his YouTube career, it’s safe to say that Nintendo has potentially lost many eyeballs in the process. In the meantime Vargas has uploaded one last Nintendo video in which he rants about the company’s policy which you can check out in the video above.
