htc-logo-sketchAccording to a recent report, it has been suggested that come 29th of September, HTC might be unveiling a new smartphone in the form of the HTC A9 Aero. However it is possible that we could be treated to more than just a smartphone. We could also be looking at a smartwatch made by the Taiwanese company.

According to a report from Phandroid, they have learnt that HTC is apparently working on a smartwatch powered by Android Wear. This will be a round smartwatch similar to some of the more recent smartwatches we’ve seen to date. Earlier this year it was rumored that HTC had a smartwatch planned, but it turns out that it was the HTC Grip, a fitness tracker instead.

This means that as far as smartwatches are concerned, HTC has yet to release one  and this could be it. Dubbed “Halfbeak” which is the codename for the device, it will come with a round display with a resolution of 360×360. While there is no confirmation of a launch, the upcoming 29th of September event does seem like it could be a perfect platform for HTC to announce it.

Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if you’re wondering if HTC might fare better in the wearables market than the smartphone market, do check back with us in the coming weeks for the details.
