Crisis-Info-HubBy now many of you guys have probably heard about the refugee crisis in Europe, in which Syrian refugees fleeing their country are attempting to enter Europe to keep them and their families safe. Given that they are on the run, access to certain luxuries like computers would be difficult, which is why Google has created a mobile website aimed to help these refugees (via MobileSyrup).

Dubbed the Crisis Info Hub, this website will be launched on the Greek island of Lesvos. The idea of the website is to help refugees find lodging, medical assistance, and/or transportation via their mobile devices. As we have heard in various reports, smartphones are a technology luxury that these refugees still have access to, so a dedicated mobile website makes a lot of sense.

There is also built-in translation on the website. As you can see in the screenshots above, it will translate websites into languages such as Arabic. While the website is aimed at Lesvos for now, Google has stated that they will expand the website to other locations in the future such as the island of Kos.

They have also made the website an open-sourced project, meaning that anyone who has useful information can also help contribute to it. Google has been doing their part in this crisis and just last month, helped to raise $11 million that goes towards Doctors Without Borders.
