dangerous_pageWe’re sure many of you guys have surfaced the web and at some point, encountered an error message from Google in the form of a big red page, warning you not to proceed as there is a chance the site could install some kind of malware on your computer, or that it might have been compromised.

However if you’ve always wondered why, you might be interested to learn that Google has recently tweaked their Transparency Report and will now include a Safe Browsing Site section. With this section, users can enter the URL of a website and from there they will be able to check on the status of the page and whether or not it is dangerous to visit.

For example in the screenshot above, we used Kickasstorrents as an example which Google has flagged as dangerous. According to Google, “Attackers on this site might try to trick you into installing programs that harm your browsing experience (for example, by changing your homepage or showing extra ads on sites you visit).”

They also put down the date in which the website was last checked for dangerous activities, which according to the listing states the 22nd of October. Google is expected to notify site owners when their sites are blocked, so that if there are any issues they can fix it ASAP to get them unlocked.
