siam-7xThese days, the kind of hardware found in smartphones tend to be more or less identical within a similar range – although there have been efforts to bring something different from time to time. The Kickstarter hopeful Siam 7X might be worth checking out if you would like to venture into the (slight) unknown. This is a US startup that will feature a 4.7” E-Ink display that is bolstered with Gorilla Glass for added durability at the back, alongside a 5” 720 x 1280 resolution screen in front.

Underneath the hood, you will find an octa-core SoC alongside a 16MP camera, a rather innovative, if not quirky, biometric earprint recognition technology. Earprints? Now this is certainly a first! The two displays will definitely do their bit to ensure that you will be able to maximize your productivity while prolonging the battery life of the device throughout the day.

Making use of the Descartes Biometric Helix system, the front-facing 8MP camera will be able to recognize faces when one holds it up, making it faster to capture selfies while you are on the move. A 1.3GHz 64-bit MediaTek octa-core processor, LTE support, dual-SIM support, a 2100 mAh battery, and a microSD memory card slot rounds off the list of specifications, where it targets a December 2015 delivery.
