mi_band_1sIt was a couple of weeks ago since Xiaomi had launched the Mi Band 1S. This isn’t Xiaomi’s first ever wearable as the company has released a previous model before this one, but to date the company has only ever released fitness trackers. So what about a smartwatch? Could Xiaomi be getting ready to dip their toes in that particular pool?

Turns out they might, at least according to the rumors. Xiaomi is expected to hold an event on the 24th of November in which the company will be launching its Redmi Note 2 Pro. However the rumors claim that alongside the handset, the company will also be debuting its first ever smartwatch, but unfortunately apart from that not much else is known about the device.

It is unclear if Xiaomi will be following in the footsteps of LG, Motorola, or Huawei in which the watch will be powered by Android Wear, or if Xiaomi might go with their own proprietary operating system which is what we’ve seen companies like Samsung do. No word on what kind of specs or features we can expect, or what it will look like.

However if there’s one thing we can be certain of, it is that it will most likely be affordable. Xiaomi’s wearables to date have been extremely affordable, with the Mi Band 1S priced at around $15, so we doubt the company’s smartwatch (if it exists) will be breaking the bank anytime soon.
