GoPro today released an updated version of its app for iOS which brings support for Apple Watch, the fruit company’s first ever smartwatch. This means that the smartwatch is now able to control GoPro cameras remotely making it much more easy for users to get the job done if they’re sporting an Apple Watch on the wrist. Previously users had to rely on third-party applications to control their action camera from the smartwatch, they will certainly appreciate having support from the official GoPro for iOS app.

GoPro’s user interface on the Apple Watch is quite simple, it provides users with quick access to basic camera controls like start and stop. It even provides a preview of the shot and lets users toggle between capture modes. Even HiLight Tags can be added using the Apple Watch.

A new feature has also been added to the iPhone app, it’s now easier to grab still images from video clips, trimming a clip has been made easier with 5, 15 and 30 second marks available for quick trimming. There is a new filtering option available in the app which lets the user decide whether to see only edited clips or Hi-Lights.

These are just basic features and yet they make it very easy for Apple Watch owners to effortlessly control the GoPro action camera straight from the wrist. For a camera that’s meant to be used in unconventional ways, this control method seems just perfect.
