star-trek-rebootLast year it was confirmed that a new Star Trek TV series would be launched in 2017. Given how popular the Star Trek franchise is, we’re sure that many are eagerly looking forward to the new series. However the question is, what is the new TV series going to be based on, and which era will it be set it?

Will it be set after previous Star Trek seasons? Or will it pick up where the recent movies have left off? A recent report from Birth.Movies.Death has revealed that it will actually take place before The Next Generation, which for those unfamiliar is the season of Star Trek that featured Patrick Stewart who played the role of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, a role which he held for 7 years.

In addition, the site quoted one of their sources who told them, “A trusted source has chimed in and told me that it looks like the show will be a seasonal anthology, which means the first season will be set post-Undiscovered Country. After that the entire Star Trek universe is potentially open. So those of you hoping for a post-Dominion War show… don’t give up hope. That could come some day.”

The upcoming Star Trek TV series is expected to air in 2017 on CBS All-Access, an online video streaming service that will cost $5.99 month in subscription.
