lionsgate_steamSteam is pretty much the default platform that might come to mind when you think about purchasing games digitally. However could Steam be thinking about becoming the next Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime Video? While we’re not sure what Valve’s plans for Steam are in the long-run, there are certainly signs that suggests that they are.

Lionsgate has recently announced that they are forming a partnership with Steam and thanks to that partnership, it will see the studio bring more than 100 movie titles onto the platform. While videos and movies have been available on Steam, this is no doubt a huge push in content that will up the ante in the video streaming industry.

Some of the movies that Steam users can expect include the Hunger Games, Twilight, Saw and Divergent franchises, just to name a few. According to Lionsgate President of Worldwide Television & Digital Distribution Jim Packer, “We’re delighted to partner with Steam, a leader in the digital entertainment and gaming space, as part of our commitment to remain at the cutting edge of innovation in delivering content to online audiences around the world. With over 125 million users, Steam represents a unique, exciting and disruptive opportunity to expand our global distribution business.”
