twitter periscopeAbout a week ago, we reported that Facebook Live had been updated with some new features. We also reported that one of the upcoming features was the ability to allow users to make sketches and doodles on live streams as they take place, but it turns out that Twitter has beaten Facebook to the punch.

According to a report from TechRadar, it seems that Twitter has announced that they are currently testing a new feature for Periscope that offers up pretty much the same thing. Broadcasters will be able to make sketches on their screens during a live stream. The doodles will appear on the screen for a few seconds before fading away, thus preventing it from getting in the way of the full video.

However the feature is only available to broadcasters at the moment, meaning that viewers won’t be able to make drawings of their own, at least for now, but that feature is expected to make its way to all users in the coming weeks, as confirmed by a Twitter spokesperson.

According to the rep, “We’re testing Sketching with a small group of people. This feature makes it fun and easy for broadcasters to draw on the screen while broadcasting. Coming in a few weeks for everyone!” It is possible that Facebook Live could launch it for everyone sooner, but for now it looks like Twitter has managed to get that feature out the door faster.
