itunes on macbookIt wasn’t too long ago that someone made a blog post claiming that for some reason, iTunes had accidentally deleted their entire music library. Many had initially sprung to Apple’s (and Apple Music’s) defense, saying that there is no reason why this should have happened, and that maybe that person did it by accident.

However later Apple did confirm that there was an issue that would have resulted in one’s music library being deleted and that they would release an update to fix it. The good news is that if you have amassed yourself a sizeable iTunes music collection and would hate for it to suddenly disappear one day, you might want to consider updating to the latest version of iTunes.

A report from TechCrunch has revealed that Apple has recently issued a new update to iTunes in which the promised safeguards are now in place to help prevent music deletion. However it is unclear as to what exactly these safeguards are so we guess we’ll just have to take it on good faith that the problem has been dealt with for good.

For those who are affected by it, which according to Apple is a very small number of users, there is a support document on Apple’s website that should tell you how to restore your songs, so don’t worry, all is not lost (hopefully).
