Have you ever wondered what they do with all the old and used up tennis balls during matches? Sometimes they are thrown away which is kind of a waste, but Richard Moss has a better idea, which is to take those tennis balls and give them a new lease on life by turning them into Bluetooth speakers.

Moss has since launched a Kickstarter campaign for his idea called hearO. The device is pretty straightforward as essentially it is just a tennis ball with speaker functionality built into it. It is Bluetooth meaning that it has wireless capabilities and while it might look simple, there was some thought put into its design.

For starters its speaker grill has a Fibonacci spiral pattern on it which apparently helps to optimise sound projection. It also comes with a magnetic connection meaning that users can charge it wirelessly by placing it on a custom-made cradle. Also thanks to its tennis ball body, it will provide some degree of protection to its innards.

We have to admit it is a clever idea and a great way to reuse old tennis balls that would have otherwise ended up discarded in a landfill somewhere. If you’d like to lend a helping hand, then head on over to its Kickstarter page to pledge your support.
