A new report out of Taiwan claims that Apple is developing a new health-tracking device that sounds a lot like a fitness band. The company already offers fitness and health-tracking features in the Apple Watch but by creating a standalone band it will be able to tap into the market that wants to have those features but doesn’t want to spend money on an expensive smartwatch.

According to the report, Apple is going to unveil its fitness band next year alongside the 2017 iPhone. Next year marks the 10th anniversary of the iPhone and Apple is expected to go big with an overhauled iPhone. It may introduce this entirely new product as part of the 10th anniversary celebration of the iPhone.

Apple is reportedly in talks with suppliers which include the likes of Foxconn for this product. It’s also claimed that the company’s 3D Touch technology is going to play a big role in this fitness band and that Apple has been working on the software for this device for nearly two years.

There’s not much to go on at this point in time so it’s unclear what features this product will have and what it will look like. This is actually the first we’re hearing of a fitness band from Apple so take the news with a grain of salt until there’s more substantial evidence to support the claim.
