ios-5-jailbreakIf you’re someone who loves jailbreaking their iOS device, you were probably ecstatic to learn that not too long ago, Pangu Team announced that the jailbreak for iOS 9.3.3 was available, and that a tool that was released shortly after made the jailbreak process so easy that users did not even need to connect their devices to the computer.

Unfortunately what followed after wasn’t as pleasant. Users started to report that they were experiencing breaches their their credit cards, debit cards, PayPal, and even Facebook accounts. Given that these users only suffered the breaches after using the tool to jailbreak their iOS devices, they pointed the fingers at Pangu Team.

The team has since taken to Reddit to refute the accusations that they were behind the breach. Their statement reads, “Hello everyone, this is the 4th jailbreak tool released by our team which means we should have some reputation even though we come from China(And we know most western users don’t trust Chinese software normally). So if any user thinks we are hacking your accounts that makes us feel sad deeply. Also we have not received any report of account breach from Chinese users.”

They have also suggested that maybe the breaches could have something to do with MySpace and Tumblr whose data was leaked earlier this year. They also claim to have checked 25pp’s tool and found nothing suspicious, suggesting that maybe the breach and the jailbreak tool might not be related. However we suppose if you are a little worried by this, maybe you’ll want to hold off from jailbreaking your iOS device just yet, at least until this matter can be resolved.
