htc-oceanIn the past few days, an image of a HTC phone made its way online. At that time, it was suggested that the phone in question was merely a concept cooked up by a HTC designer and that we might never see it become a reality. However that has changed. A tweet from @LlabTooFeR has suggested that the phone could be in the works.

The tweet does not come out and explicitly state that, but apparently there are at least three HTC “Ocean” models that are being worked on, which includes the HTC Ocean Master, Ocean Note, and Ocean Smart. Now we’re not sure if the Ocean name is the new name for HTC’s lineup of smartphones, or if it could represent a new lineup of devices like the “Desire” series, or if the “Ocean” name is just what HTC refers to them as internally.

We’re also not sure what the differences are between all three handsets, but presumably they will be differentiated by varying hardware. There is also no telling when the phones will be unveiled, but with HTC supposedly working on the new Pixel and Pixel XL handsets, maybe not anytime soon.

However CES is taking place in January next year, and sometimes we do get phone announcements then. If not MWC which will kick off late February in 2017 is also another possible platform for an announcement, but either way it’s best to take it with a grain of salt, but hopefully we’ll learn more soon.
