macos-remap-esc-keyAhead of Apple’s 27th of October which many expect the company to unveil the new MacBook Pros, it seems that the biggest leak of all has come from Apple themselves who revealed images of the upcoming laptop in the latest build of macOS Sierra. As expected, the new MacBook Pro will feature the much-rumoured OLED touchpanel.

However in case you did not notice this already, the touchpanel not only replaces the function keys, but also the Escape key. If you use it quite often to clear popups or windows, the lack of an Escape key would no doubt be a huge problem, but it seems that Apple has already anticipated this.

In the latest macOS update, it has been discovered that users will now be able to remap the Escape key to another button on the keyboard. Note that while key remapping is a feature that was previously offered, it is only in macOS Sierra 10.12.1 that Apple has included the Escape function as one of the remappable buttons, which we reckon was probably done in anticipation of the laptop’s release.

We’re not sure if the touchpanel itself would have a digital/touch version of the Escape button (we’re hoping it will), but in case it doesn’t then this is an alternative that you can use.
