xiaomi_mimix_brokenSo a couple of weeks ago, Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi Mi Mix, a phone with a nearly edgeless display (or maybe not). We can only imagine that as technology gets better, more companies will start to create edgeless display-like designs, but a recent photo has surfaced which shows the pitfall of owning such a device.

In an image posted online via XiaomiToday, it seems that someone has accidentally dropped their Mi Mix phone. Phone drops are pretty common but given how close the display is to the edge of the phone, the damage in this instance is more pronounced. The glass has been damaged, and so has its display panel. Its ceramic frame has also been separated from the phone.

While we’re not sure what was the reason behind the drop, YouTuber and tech reviewer Marques Brownlee did state in his hands-on video of the phone that the use of ceramic has resulted in a phone that is extremely slick, so much so that he recommended users using the included case if they’d rather not have their phone flying out of their hands.

Like we said, it’s a good example of some of the downsides to owning a phone with such a design, and with rumors that the iPhone 8 sporting a similar design, and the Galaxy S8 from Samsung also sporting a 90% screen-to-body ratio, we can only expect more similar reports like this in the future.
