During the MWC 2024, Xiaomi officially introduced the Xiaomi 14 Ultra for the Global Markets, positioning it as a strong contender for the title of the best camera smartphone of 2024. Emphasizing a balanced approach to camera technology, with this device, Xiaomi aims to combine versatility, high megapixel counts, quality sensors, and innovative features.

The device boasts a prominent camera island on the back housing four cameras, including a 50MP Sony LYT-900 primary camera with an infinitely variable aperture between f/1.63 to f/4.0. The other three cameras are 50MP Sony IMX858 sensors configured for wide-angle shots, 3.2x optical zoom telephoto, and 5x periscope zoom, with macro capabilities. Complementing these is a 32MP front camera.

Xiaomi introduces its first large AI model computational photography platform, “Xiaomi AISP,” and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra offers impressive video capabilities, supporting 4K 120fps from the primary camera, 8K 30fps video across all rear cameras, and 4K 60fps video across all cameras.

In terms of design, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra retains features from its predecessor but modifies the camera island, occupying a significant portion at the top. The device comes in variants with vegan leather or ceramic back, and dimensions measure 161.4 x 75.3 x 9.2 mm, with weight ranging from 224.4g to 229.4g depending on the variant.

On the front, a 6.73-inch QHD+ resolution OLED display with a slight curve and 3,000 nits peak brightness enhances the visual experience. Powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the device offers configurations with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB internal storage. A substantial 5,300mAh battery supports 90W fast charging and 80W wireless charging, with additional features like USB 3.2 Gen 2 capabilities and an IP68 rating.

The Xiaomi Ultra Photography camera grip packs a 1,500mAh battery.

Xiaomi is also providing a Photography Kit as an accessory, featuring a camera-like grip with dedicated controls and a 1,500mAh battery.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra is priced starting at 1,499€ (~$1,624) and will offer a single out-of-warranty repair without any labor costs during the first year of use and one free screen repair within the first 6 months after the purchase.

In Europe, the Chinese brand is partnering with several telcos that will offer special plans for the Xiaomi 14 series devices, also including the recently launched Xiaomi 14.
