nintendo-switchWhen the Nintendo Wii was launched, it was an odd console but it worked and gamers took to it. This led to Sony and Microsoft coming up with motion-based gaming solutions of their own. Then came the Wii U which was the successor to the Wii and in many ways was supposed to be an improvement, but unfortunately it was anything but.

Then came the Switch which is Nintendo’s latest efforts and is meant to right the wrongs of the Wii U, but will it? So far the general consensus is pretty optimistic and many hands-on reviews of the console have painted it in a positive light, and it seems that they’re not alone as Ubisoft is heaping a ton of praise onto the console.

According to Ubisoft’s managing director of its French studios, Xavier Poix, “The Wii attracted a very large audience – including kids and families – because it offered, on one hand, the motion controls, allowing for intuitive interactions with the console and on the other hand games with a strong social component. These aspects gave us the opportunity to develop Rabbids and Just Dance, for example. The Switch will probably have a similar impact, thanks to the mobility offered by the console.”

Ubisoft has so far announced several games for the console such as Just Dance 2017, Rayman Legends Definitive Edition, and Steep to Switch. This is also not the first time Ubisoft has praised the console as in the past, Ubisoft execs have also proclaimed how the console will redefine gaming. Whether or not that will happen remains to be seen, but with a release set for the 3rd of March, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
