The Nintendo Wii was released more than a decade ago, about 13 years to be exact. It is one of Nintendo’s most successful consoles to date (although the Switch seems to be catching up), and it seems that over in the Windsor Court care home located in Wetherby in the UK, the Wii is still finding a lot of use amongst its residents.
When the Nintendo Wii U flopped really hard, many had expressed their concern that Nintendo might be losing it. However, when the Switch launched, it painted a very different story as the console started to gain a ton of popularity and favorable reviews from gamers around the world. It also led to speculation that the console could potentially beat the Wii’s sales.
Consoles these days wear more than one hat, where they are designed to be more than just a device for gaming. Instead they come with various entertainment and social features, like being able to stream movies, chat with friends, and so on. This is why Netflix on the Nintendo Wii made sense.
Nintendo is a bit of an odd company in which some of their ideas seem to be the product of forward thinking, but yet there have been some instances in which the company has been slow to adopt newer technology or features that its competitors have embraced, like the Wii Shop Channel which marked the first time that Nintendo embraced the digital game distribution method.
The Nintendo Wii is one of Nintendo’s best-selling consoles in recent times, which is why when the Wii U was launched, many had expected it to build on the success of its predecessor. However we all know how that story ends, but it seems that Nintendo thinks that they can redeem themselves with the Switch.
When the Nintendo Wii was launched, it was an odd console but it worked and gamers took to it. This led to Sony and Microsoft coming up with motion-based gaming solutions of their own. Then came the Wii U which was the successor to the Wii and in many ways was supposed to be an improvement, but unfortunately it was anything but.

A report out of Colorado brings news of a man who claims that his Nintendo Wii burnt all of his belongings. When Nintendo first announced the Wii, it was a bit of a revolutionary device as it offered up motion-controlled gaming, allowing Nintendo to beat Sony and Microsoft to the market with the feature back in 2006. However it seems that the technology was offered to Sony and Microsoft before it made its way to Nintendo. This is according to a the latest Did You Know Gaming? video in which it was […]

The Nintendo Wii U is definitely not the hottest selling console at the moment. In fact Nintendo had recently slashed sales estimates of the Wii U by 70% and if you thought that it was prime for a price cut in order to generate sales, like what Nintendo did with the 3DS handheld console, you might recall that Nintendo’s President Satoru Iwata stated that they would not be doing that. […]
All good things must come to an end, that is one of the cardinal rules of life. The Nintendo WIi, which was originally scoffed at by certain quarters for its “waggle controls”, managed to have quite a fair run in its lifetime to date. The thing is, the console has more or less reached the end of its lifespan, with the Land of the Rising Sun being the first region […]
Now that Nintendo’s next-generation video game console, the Wii U, is available around the world, it’s understandable the company would be halting the production of its predecessor, the Wii. We learned just a few days ago NIntendo had discontinued the production of the Wii over in Japan, which probably had many fans of the console rushing to their consumer electronics retailer of choice to buy as many of the last-gen console […]
Boy, how fast time flies. Just a few weeks after Nintendo announced that they would cease the manufacturing of the Nintendo Wii for Japan, the gaming company has listed the console as “discontinued” (after some translation work, of course) on its Japanese website. I guess this means that if you happen to be in Japan and would love to pick up a Nintendo Wii, either as a replacement for your […]
