nintendo_switchWith the Nintendo Switch having been officially announced yesterday, we now have a very rough and basic idea of what Nintendo was going for. The company has indeed backed away from creating a more traditional console that Microsoft and Sony are going for, and instead are attempting to create something different.

Now Ubisoft has been singing the console’s praises for the longest time ever, stating that they believe it has the ability to draw in casual gamers. Recently in a statement sent to GameSpot, Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot also stated that he believes that the console has the ability to “redefine” gaming. “With the Nintendo Switch’s unique capacities and design, Nintendo could again redefine the way we play games.”

He adds, “The Nintendo Switch is accessible at its core and also seizes on the growing trends of sharing more experiences and playing anywhere at any time. Ubisoft and Nintendo enjoy a long-standing partnership and we are currently developing a number of games for the platform, including Just Dance 2017. We look forward to sharing more at a later date.”

Ubisoft is one of the partners working with Nintendo to bring games onto the console, however it would seem that right now no one can confirm what titles will be available. Nintendo has apparently decided to wait until 2017 to reveal more information. Even companies like Bethesda whose game Skyrim was clearly shown off in the trailer won’t confirm if the game will be one of the playable titles when the console is released.
