samsung_notebook_odyssey_12[CES 2017] While Samsung isn’t new to the laptop scene, the company is known more for their portable laptops and ultrabooks as opposed to gaming laptops. However Samsung plans to change that narrative as during CES 2017, the company took the wraps off their first-ever gaming laptop, the Samsung Notebook Odyssey.

Available in black or white finishes, the Notebook Odyssey doesn’t look all that chunky compared to some of the competition out there.

It will come in 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch options, and save for the display size, the rest of the specs are more or less the same. Both laptops will feature Full HD displays and Intel’s 7th generation Core i7 processors.

"AN IMPRESSIVE ENTRY IN THE 17-INCH LAPTOP GAMING MARKET"However one of the differences would be the RAM in which the 15.6-inch model will only support up to 32GB of RAM, while the 17.3-inch model will allow users to configure it to pack 64GB of RAM. Storage for the most part will see a 1TB HDD, but the 17.3-inch will also allow an additional 512GB PCIe SSD, while the 15.6-inch model will allow up to 256GB PCIe SSD storage.

The GPU for the 17.3-inch model was not disclosed, but the 15.3-inch model will pack an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050. Pricing and availability of the company’s new Notebook Odyssey laptops have yet to be determined, but as is the case with gaming laptops, don’t expect them to come cheap. Conclusion: an impressive entry in the laptop gaming market.
