Sony recently announced a price cut for the PlayStation 4. It has dropped the price to $250 for a limited time and Microsoft is now following suit. Redmond has confirmed that a new Xbox One price cut has gone live. It’s matching the price of Sony’s console as it continues to try and compete in the market against the PlayStation 4.

The PS4 and Xbox One were both released back in 2013 but given that the PS4 cost $100 less than the Xbox One back then, it was considered to be one of the reasons why Sony’s console took the lead early on.

Microsoft’s console was priced more because the company had bundled the Kinect sensor with it. Microsoft later decided to cut the price by $100 and unbundled the Kinect from the Xbox One. That allowed it to regain momentum but it remains behind the PS4 in total sales since 2013.

Matching Sony’s price cut, Microsoft has announced that it has discounted all models of the Xbox One and Xbox One S for a limited time. Similar to what Sony’s offering, the starting price for the Xbox One is now $250 and is valid until February 25th.

The price cut is valid on all Xbox One bundles so the price of more expensive bundles has also been reduced by $50. The Xbox One can be bought at this reduced price from Microsoft’s stores as well as participating retailers. Those who are interested in taking advantage of this promotion must make sure that they purchase the console prior to February 25th.
