Xbox Live custom profile pics has long been a feature that the community has repeatedly requested for. Microsoft is finally going to listen to them as the company has confirmed that members of its Xbox Insider program will soon be able to choose a custom image for their online gamer display picture.

This will eliminate the need to settle for an avatar or a snapshot related to some game. Microsoft has further explained that gamers will be able to choose a custom gamer picture from the console directly, a Windows 10 PC or a smartphone.

The company does caution that this feature is going to be released only for members of the Insider program first and that it may take a lot of time before it’s eventually released for the general public. It expects the Xbox Live custom gamer pic feature “to be in preview longer than other features to ensure it’s great for everyone when released.”

Another requested feature that Microsoft is adding happens to be the ability to filter games by Xbox One and Xbox 360 filters on the My Apps and Games screen.

All of these features will be tested out by Insider program members first before they are released for the wider Xbox community. It can’t be said with absolute certainty at this point in time when these features will make their way to the public.
