Apple’s iMac has not been updated in a while and some have been wondering about the status of the computer. In a recent report from DigiTimes, it seems that users who are looking forward to an iMac upgrade will be pleased to learn that come the second half of 2017, we might be able to expect an upgrade.

In terms of hardware specs, we’re not sure what we can expect save for the possibility that it could be bumped to Intel’s latest processors, possibly more RAM, and new GPU options, but in terms of the exact specifics that remains to be seen. The report also “confirms” that a higher-end specced iMac could be seeing a release towards the end of the year.

Recently Apple had confirmed that they do plan on releasing a pro version of the iMac and if DigiTimes’ report is correct, we can expect to see that model by the end of the year. In fact recently alleged specs of the upcoming computer have been revealed and it will most likely end up with Intel’s Xeon E3 processors and come with 16GB of ECC RAM, faster NVMe SSDs, and will see the use of AMD’s GPUs.

In any case take this report with a grain of salt especially since DigiTimes doesn’t exactly have the best track record, but hopefully for iMac users looking to upgrade, we won’t have to wait too long to see something new from Apple.
