Apple has taken a lot of flak recently from professionals who feel that the company is abandoning its core Mac products. The company tasked one of its main executives to provide more information to the public about some of the new products that it’s working on. Apple has confirmed that it’s currently working on an iMac with the professional customer in mind which it’s going to release later this year.

Schiller repeated a line that we’ve heard from Apple before in an interview with BuzzFeed News today that Apple has “big plans for the iMac.” Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing said that Apple is going to make configurations of iMac specifically with the pro customer in mind.

The company hasn’t detailed what these new configurations are going to be but it does point out that they won’t have touchscreen displays. “Touch doesn’t even register on the list of things pro users are interested in talking about,” Schiller said, adding those customers are more interested in performance, storage, and expandability.

Apple also hasn’t detailed when these new configurations are going to be launched precisely but mentions that they will be out this year.

The company confirmed today that it’s completely rethinking the Mac Pro and working on a new one along with a new pro display. However, both of those products aren’t slated for release in 2017.
