Over the years, we’ve lost many great and talented musicians, which means that those who are fans will never see them perform again, and those who are too young will never really fully grasp what legends these musicians are. However it seems that in recent times, technology is helping to give fans something of a happy middle.

You might recall how deceased rapper Tupac performed at Coachella many years ago as a hologram, and how there were also plans to create a world tour for the Notorious B.I.G. in hologram form as well. Now for those who are fans of heavy-metal, you could soon get a chance to watch Ronnie James Dio perform again in hologram form.

This isn’t completely new as the hologram form of Dio made its debut at the Wacken festival in Germany last year, but there are now plans to set out on a world tour featuring musicians who played with him while he was alive. In case you are unfamiliar with Dio, at some point in time during his career, he was the frontman and vocalist for Black Sabbath, and he also later formed his own band called Dio with former Black Sabbath drummer Vinny Appice.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Dio’s widow Wendy Dio said, “Ronnie was always wanting to experiment with new stage ideas and was a big Disney fan. With this said, I am sure he is giving us his blessing with this hologram project. It gives the fans that saw Ronnie perform an opportunity to see him again and new fans that never got to see him a chance to see him for the first time.”
