Facebook’s acquisition of WhatsApp was considered to be one of the more expensive tech acquisitions in recent times, but it seems that Facebook’s acquisition was a good one because it looks like acquiring WhatsApp has given Facebook access to a ton of users, which according to WhatsApp’s recent announcement, is at 1 billion active daily users.

According to WhatsApp, “Just last year, we shared that one billion people around the world use WhatsApp every month. Today, we are excited and proud to share that one billion people around the world use WhatsApp every day to stay in touch with their family and friends. Whether it’s sharing personalized photos and videos, connecting through video calling, or keeping friends updated throughout the day with Status, communicating on WhatsApp has never been easier or more personal.”

This is indeed a huge milestone to be able to jump from 1 billion monthly users to 1 billion daily users. Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg had expressed his opinion several years ago that WhatsApp could hit the 2-3 billion mark, and it seems that the app is well on its way to do so. Zuckerberg had also previously stated that he believes the company is worth more than $19 billion, although right now it is unclear as to how Facebook plans on monetizing the service more efficiently.
