WhatsApp is rolling out two new features for Apple device users, bringing expanded emoji reactions to the Apple Watch and a new shortcut for searching messages on the iPhone. Both features are being distributed gradually, so availability may vary between users.
Full Emoji Keyboard Comes to Apple Watch
WhatsApp previously limited Apple Watch reactions to a fixed selection of six emojis. With the latest update, users can access the full emoji catalog available on the device instead of relying on the predefined options.
To use the expanded selection, users can open the reaction interface and tap the emoji icon with a plus symbol in the upper-right corner. This opens the complete emoji keyboard, allowing users to choose from the available system emojis when responding to messages.

The feature is being introduced through a gradual rollout, meaning it may not immediately appear for everyone. According to WABetaInfo, the change is being distributed progressively, while Meta has not included the feature in its official update notes.
New Message Search Shortcut on iPhone
The second addition focuses on message search within WhatsApp for iPhone. The app now includes a dedicated search button directly on the conversation or channel screen, making it easier to locate specific messages without returning to the main WhatsApp interface or opening the contact menu.
The shortcut appears at the top of the conversation after users scroll upward through the chat history. When the user returns to the latest messages at the bottom, the button disappears. Once activated, the search function allows users to enter a keyword and find matching content within the conversation history.
Like the Apple Watch emoji feature, the iPhone search shortcut is being released gradually. Keeping WhatsApp updated through the App Store should help users receive the new functionality as it becomes available.
The additions provide small changes to WhatsApp’s interface while making reactions and message searches more accessible on Apple’s devices.
