#IFA2017 – If you’re in the market for a new set of Bluetooth speakers, but you wanted something with a bit more oomph in terms of sound, obviously getting those tiny pocket-sized Bluetooth speakers aren’t the way to go about it. In fact just recently JBL has taken the wraps off a new Bluetooth speaker in the form of the JBL Boombox.

For those unfamiliar, the boombox used to be a thing back in the 1980s where people would carry hulking speakers on their shoulders and walk around with, and that’s kind of the feel that JBL is apparently going for. The speakers will weigh over 11 pounds and is nearly 20-inches long, so while they are portable in the sense that no wires are required, they’re not really something you can just toss inside of your backpack.

The speakers will feature a massive 20,000mAh battery that the company claims will offer up to 24 hours of playtime, and it can also charge other devices as well. It is also IPX7 rated which means that taking it to the beach or to pool parties should not be an issue. As for the speakers themselves, it will feature four active transducers and two bass radiators.

Unfortunately as far as Bluetooth speakers are concerned, the JBL Boombox will not come cheap. It is priced at €499 and is expected to be made available on the 19th of September.
