With there being so many digital assistants in the market space right now, we’re sure there has to be some who are wondering where Bixby will fit in. We’ve seen how Amazon’s Alexa has found its way into plenty of smart speakers, and Google Assistant as well, and Apple’s Siri has also been expanded, so what about Bixby?

For those wondering about the future of the digital assistant, Samsung has confirmed that the next iteration of Bixby is expected to arrive in time for the Galaxy Note 9. Samsung Mobile’s head DJ Koh was quoted as saying, “For Bixby 1.0, we focused on a fast rollout to the market. Expanding the ecosystem was difficult. So Bixby 2.0 will strengthen this aspect and we are working intensely.”

He adds, “In December last year, we began taking applications for the public beta version. So far over 800 companies have applied and are testing it. At this speed, I think we will be able to unveil Bixby 2.0 when we launch the Galaxy Note 9.” The Galaxy Note 9 is expected to be unveiled towards the later part of the year, which means that there will still be quite a bit of waiting left to be done.

However Koh had also previously confirmed that a Bixby smart speaker would be arriving later this year, so we have to wonder if it could all be launched at the same time.
