As with all pieces of software, over time the design and look of it is expected to change. Google is no exception to this as we have seen its apps and services undergo various design changes, such as Gmail which is reportedly getting a new look. However that’s not all Google is changing as Chrome looks to be getting a slight refresh in design as well.

According to the folks at 9to5Google, they have found that Google’s Chrome browser could be getting a Material Design 2 makeover. This was spotted in the latest version of Chrome Canary (the experimental version of Chrome) where the changes are pretty obvious, such as the browser tabs which will lose the sharp edges in favor of considerably rounded edges as you can see in the screenshot above.

There are also other changes, namely the shifting around of certain elements in the browser, but for the most part it isn’t a particularly drastic overhaul. However like we said, this only seems to be available in the latest version of Chrome Canary. If you’re using the regular version of Chrome then you won’t be able to see these changes.

However if you are using Chrome Canary, type “chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md” and enable the  flag in order to check out the changes.
