There have been rumors that Xiaomi could be working on a gaming phone in response to the Razer Phone. Turns out the rumors might be true because according to an event invite, the phone in question is expected to be officially unveiled on the 13th of April in an event that will be held in Beijing, China.

However the catch is that Xiaomi won’t be announcing the phone. Instead the phone will be unveiled by a company called “Black Shark” which is backed by Xiaomi, so while it won’t be bearing Xiaomi’s branding, the company does have its fingers in the pot. The event invite also features Qualcomm’s branding which suggests that both companies might have worked together to create this handset.

It is unclear what kind of specs or features we can expect from this phone, but given that it is supposed to be a phone designed for gaming, it is safe to assume that it will pack high-end hardware like the Snapdragon 845. We’re also probably looking at anywhere between 6-8GB of RAM, and who knows, maybe the handset could also adopt a 120Hz display like the Razer Phone.

Either way we’ll find out soon enough so do be sure to check back with us next week for the details.
