Tony Hawk: RIDE has finally arrived in North America across Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms, where most people would be curious to give the wireless skateboard controller a go in their living rooms. We wonder whether it is advisable to wear all the relevant safety gear just in case you land awkwardly on your floor. Interested? Be prepared to drop $119.99 for this title then. [Press Release]
Xbox 360 console ban is irreversible
Posted on November 12, 2009 9:24 AM

Xbox 360 owners who found themselves cut off from Microsoft's Xbox Live service are on the path of no return as they will need to purchase a whole new console if they ever want to get their online action back again. According to Microsoft, banned machines will be permanently barred and "unable to connect to Xbox Live" as affected consoles do not have any recourse for terms of use violations. This amounts up to a million gamers missing out from Xbox Live - yes, that many people have modified their consoles to handle pirated games.
Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter to hit the US
Posted on November 10, 2009 7:34 PM

At long last after several false starts, the Xbox 360 Wireless N Networking Adapter is set to arrive in North America sometime this week, shipping for $80 a pop while stocks last. No idea on whether this is going to be a hot seller and fly off the shelves or not, but with support for the 802.11n protocol, you ought to be able to enjoy much faster wireless connections. Apart from that, a second antenna has been thrown into the fray for symmetrical purposes.
Amazon Matches Walmart $99 Xbox Deal
Posted on November 7, 2009 9:39 AM

Well, Amazon certainly doesn’t want to lose out, and it has matched Walmart’s deal. There are only limited units, so you’d better get yours fast! The first batch has already sold out, but the deal should be running around at 12pm EST, 9am PST.
No Xbox 360 with Blu-ray
Posted on October 23, 2009 11:41 AM

Sorry for the false alarm folks - it doesn't look as though Microsoft will be rolling out the Xbox 360 with a Blu-ray drive add-on anytime soon, as the interview with Steve Ballmer was misinterpreted since Steve actually referred to Blu-Ray accessories for the PC. Well, that's that then - if you want a Blu-ray player, you can always pick up a (gasp!) Sony PS3.
Xbox 360 could get Blu-ray drive
Posted on October 22, 2009 8:19 AM

This is rather unthinkable - somewhat akin to the SNES playing Genesis games, where the Xbox 360 might actually come with an external Blu-ray drive accessory in the near future according to Microsoft chief Steve Ballmer. According to Ballmer, "Well I don't know if we need to put Blu-ray in there -- you'll be able to get Blu-ray drives as accessories." What do you think of this idea? Would it help boost Xbox 360 sales?
Modified Pink Xbox 360 Controller
Posted on October 18, 2009 8:10 AM

We’ve seen the pink colored Xbox 360 controller that Microsoft is offering, but we have admit, it doesn’t come close to this one that modded by Flickr user 4apples. Apparently he created it as a gift for his girlfriend, and once she sees the controller, we’re fairly sure she’s going to be a very happy lady. What do you think of it?
Xbox 360 Wireless N adapter dated
Posted on October 5, 2009 8:13 PM

At last, we are no longer kept in the dark as the Xbox 360 Wireless N adapter has been slated for a November 3rd release, retailing for $100 but offering you 802.11n connectivity which is way faster compared to 802.11b/g connections. Any takers at that price point? This is clearly daylight robbery...

$1.1m For A Sarah Palin Signed Xbox 360
Posted on October 4, 2009 5:22 AM

What would you buy if you had a spare $1.1m lying around, a nice sports car, a big house, or something exotic like an Xbox 360 signed by Sarah Palin (2 days before she resigned as governor)? We’ve seen some people try to flog off some weird stuff in eBay before, but asking for $1.1m for this is really wishful thinking. Of course, if we’re wrong and you DO intend to pick this up, don’t let us stop you from placing a bid over at eBay.

Microsoft Xbox 360 802.11n adapter confirmed
Posted on September 21, 2009 11:57 PM

Looks like rumor is now fact - the Microsoft Xbox 360 802.11n adapter is very real and will enable gamers to "seamlessly connect with their home network with the highest wireless 'N' technology." Apart from that, details are extremely scant, including the two pieces of information many clamor for - a release date as well as the price. Could we see an integrated Wi-Fi adapter arrive in future Xbox 360 revisions?

Xbox 360 Arcade price goes up
Posted on August 27, 2009 8:19 AM

Interestingly enough after the announcement that Microsoft will be cutting the prices of its Xbox 360 Pro and Elite consoles, folks living in the UK will be disappointed to know that the entry level Arcade bundle has actually received a price increase to £160 from £130, with Microsoft citing the reason of attempting to "offset" exchange rate fluctuations and local market conditions. This is the first upward adjustment for consoles that we've come across, and it sure as heck doesn't make sense. If they did it to Japan, that's all right because the Xbox 360 is more or less dead and buried there anyways, still being outsold by the PS2 every single week since its release.
Xbox 360 Elite and Pro gets price drops
Posted on August 27, 2009 7:50 AM

Guess not only the Xbox 360 Elite will receive a price drop, the Pro model will too as well, starting from this August 30th. The 60GB Pro model will get a $50 cut to $249.99, while the 120GB Xbox 360 Elite will see its price drop to compare with the new Sony PS3 Slim at $299.99. Again, the question beckons - will this move you to purchase a new Xbox 360 instead of the Sony offering assuming you have neither?
Xbox 360 could experience price cut
Posted on August 26, 2009 10:39 AM

With Sony having announced their PS3 Slim recently with a new price tag, Microsoft could hit back with a stinger of their own, although it will not involve any new hardware but a price cut instead. With the 60GB model being discontinued, we will most probably see the current king-of-the-hill Xbox 360 Elite drop its price, with rumors of the Xbox 360 Arcade getting some enhancements as well. Would you prefer to pick up a cheap Xbox 360 Elite or the PS3 Slim if you own neither?
120GB Xbox 360 Elite packaging spotted
Posted on August 23, 2009 8:46 PM

Check out the image of a 120GB Xbox 360 Elite package that was captured from a local Walmart. While it will scan for $399 at the moment, folks have spotted retailers' print flyers including Walmart that quote one Benjamin less at $299, in view of the PS3 Slim's recent launch and announcement of a similar price point. The back of the box does point to the Elite coming with standard, presumably non-HD cables only, and unfortunately there is no mention of any bundled HDMI cables with each purchase. The Xbox Live wording was also altered from "Silver Membership" to "Free" as well.
Xbox 360 gets Left 4 Dead
Posted on August 19, 2009 8:36 AM

We're not talking about the game for the console here, but more of this DIY mod that clearly ups the gore ante where case mods are concerned. The bloody handprint on one side of the Xbox 360 clearly adds a mark of class, while well-placed acrylic windows on the other side let you see what's going on inside - perhaps a foretaste of a future where machines "eat" people up and churn out body parts? Creepy, to say the least, but it is guaranteed to turn heads whenever your mates drop by to have a game or two.
