Acer launches the Gemstone Blue
At its first international press conference in New York, Acer unveiled its second-generation Gemstone laptops. The Taiwanese company branded this product with a unique blue they named the “Gemstone Blue”. The price is great: from $900 to under $2000 for the high end configuration.
The Gemstone Blue Aspire 6920 G 16″ and Aspire 8920G 18.4″ notebooks’ features include:
- Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo processor
- Display: full HD 1080p (1920×1080), 8ms response time, native 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio
- 512MB NVIDIA Geforce 9650 (only for the 8920G) or Geforce 9500
- Blu-ray drive

- BD playback done by the GPU
- Dolby headphone output
- Acer CineSurround: True 5.1 sound for the 8920G
