The Imaging Source has just introduced a new range of affordable, low noise astronomy cameras that ain’t too shabby when it comes to capturing high quality images of the night sky. Each camera will ship in beautifully crafted, blue and black anodized aluminium and zinc industrial housing, tipping the scales at 260 grams and measuring 50mm x 56mm. It’s noise piece is mounted onto a C/CS mount on the front of the camera, while the rear sees a USB or FireWire connector, depending on the model. You will be able to choose from monochrome or color models, and these will come with or without an IR cut filter in 3 resolutions – 640 x 480, 1,024 x 768 and 1,280 x 960. Low noise CCD chips from Sony are utilized within, offering an exposure time of up to an hour and a maximum frame rate of up to 60 fps. Prices start from $350 upwards.
